Hey parents and young players! If you’re looking for the latest on our U-14 squad, you’re in the right spot. Here you’ll find match dates, scores, training ideas and everything you need to keep the team moving forward.

Match Schedule & Results

Our U-14 side plays every Saturday afternoon at the Layton Community Ground. The next three fixtures are:

  • April 20 – vs. St. Mary's U-14 (home)
  • April 27 – vs. Riverbank U-14 (away)
  • May 4 – vs. Greenfield United U-14 (home)

Last week we edged a 2‑1 win over Riverside, with Alex scoring a late header. The goal keeper, Sam, kept a clean sheet for most of the game and only let in a soft rebound. Check the club’s board for live updates after each match.

Training Tips & Player Development

U-14 is the age where basic skills turn into match‑ready talent. Our coaches focus on three core areas: ball control, simple tactics and fitness. Here are a few drills you can try at home.

Ball control: Set up a cone line about 5‑meter apart. Have your child dribble through using both feet, then turn back quickly. Do three rounds and keep track of time – it builds confidence and quick feet.

Tactical awareness: Play a small‑sided game (3‑vs‑3) on a half‑size pitch. Ask players to stay in their zones and pass to the teammate in space. It teaches positioning without over‑complicating the rules.

Fitness: Short sprints work best at this age. Sprint 20 meters, jog back, repeat ten times. It improves speed and recovery, which are key during a fast game.

Don’t forget nutrition – a balanced breakfast with carbs and protein fuels a good training session. A banana or a slice of whole‑grain toast before practice can make a big difference.

Parents, your support matters. Arrive early for warm‑ups, bring water bottles, and cheer positively from the sideline. A friendly voice helps kids stay focused and enjoy the sport.

Thinking about joining the U‑14 team? Just fill out the online registration form on our website, pay the season fee and bring the player’s medical certificate. Our welcome meeting is on the first Saturday of the month, where coaches explain the season plan.
